Betty Jane ("Betsy") Bayle

Betty Jane “Betsy” Bayle 84, of French Creek, NY, passed away Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022, at UPMC Hamot surrounded by her family.

She was born on April 18, 1938, in Erie, PA to the late Leonard T. Alcorn and Helen D. (McClintock) Alcorn. Betsy grew up in Greenfield Township and was a graduate of North East High School in 1956. On August 24, 1957, she married Merton A. Bayle of French Creek, NY. She worked as a food packer, cook at The Dutch Village restaurant in Clymer, and most proudly 39 years as a bus driver for Clymer Central School, she was also a longtime member of Park United Methodist Church in North East. She enjoyed lighthouses, camping, knitting and crocheting, cooking and baking, and spending time with family.

Betsy is preceded in death by her parents Leonard Alcorn and Helen (McClintock) Alcorn, her older sister Janet (Alcorn) Lang, and an infant daughter Tiffany Bayle. She is survived by her husband of 65 years Merton Bayle; her younger sister Susan (James) Schultz of North East, PA; her three children Todd (Terri) Bayle, Tamara (Bruce) Tenpas, and Trevor Bayle all of Clymer, NY; five grandchildren David Tenpas, Abigail Bayle, Bryan Tenpas all of Clymer, NY, Jeremy Bayle of Texas, and Katelyn (Tristen) Frye of Sinclairville, NY; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 3 P.M. at Park United Methodist Church, 30 N. Lake St., North East, PA. Pastor Eric Leonard will officiate.  Burial in Cutting Cemetery at a later date with a service for many.
