Dorothy Marie (Finney) King

Dorothy Marie King took hold of her inheritance in Christ on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at the age of ninety. Dorothy was born on March 10, 1932, to John and Rosetta “Rose” (Tomlinson) Finney in McKeesport, PA. Both of her parents, and a brother lost in infancy, David Ashley Finney,  preceded her in death. Dorothy attended Shadyside Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, and worked as a nurse, most often in nursing home settings. She relished her years as a pastor’s wife, and spent over seventy years ministering to many through encouragement cards she sent weekly. Her thoughtful words, beautiful handwriting, and consistent care touched many lives. Dorothy never forgot a birthday, anniversary, birth, wedding, or illness. She rose early most of her life to cover her loved ones, friends, and acquaintances in prayer. Her favorite titles were mother to her three children: Vicky Herrmann, Susan (Jeff) Hall, and Rick (Ruth) King; and grandmother to her seven grandchildren: Iris (Ben) Tresler, Joshua (Carolyn) Spacht, Rachel (DJ) Galbreath, Ryan (Danielle) Spacht, Randy King, Ashley (Nate) Johnson, and Brittainy Herrmann, in addition to ten great-grandchildren. Dorothy leaves behind her brother, Howard (Bettyann) Finney of Greensburg, PA, as well as her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. We know Dorothy is worshiping her Savior with her beloved son-in-law, Chuck Spacht.  Friends may call at W. Tad Bowers Funeral Home, 92 S. Lake St., North East, PA, on Sunday, July 3rd from 3-5 PM, with a service celebrating Dorothy’s life, to be held at the same location, at 5 PM.  Friends are invited to join the family in a fellowship meal provided by Park United Methodist Church, 30 N. Lake St., North East, PA 16428, following the service.
