Dorothy Manley Obituary

Dorothy May Manley (Page) who was born and lived much of her life on Orchard Beach Road,
North East, PA died on November 2, 2020 in Bolingbrook IL of complications of the coronavirus.
She married Roy Manley of North East in 1956 who preceded her in death in 2012. She is
survived by her sons Gordon Manley (Kathy) of Bolingbrook IL, Doug Manley (Caela) of Fort
Collins CO, and her granddaughter Laurel Manley, also of Fort Collins, as well as her brother
Robert Page of North East. Her siblings Ruth, Genevieve, Shirley, Virginia, and Raymond Page
preceded her in death. She lived in North Olmsted OH, Highland, IN, and Livonia MI before
moving to an assisted living facility in Illinois, near Gordon.
The Page family was one of the first fifty families to settle in North East.
She supervised telephone operators at GTE in the 1950s. She enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Dorothy’s Thanksgiving dinners were the highlight of the year.
Dorothy loved her sons throughout her life and adored her granddaughter Laurel. She would be
giddy at the sight of Laurel arriving for her yearly visit.
She lived for her children, her husband and her extended family. Dorothy often talked about
her parents Ida and Russell Page. She supported her husband Roy through difficult health
challenges in the late 1970s and in his lengthy recovery from a severe car accident in 2010. She
met each challenge with a smile and often a song. She was often seen gliding down the halls of
her nursing home in her wheelchair. A few months before her death, Dorothy
uncharacteristically spent an hour talking about her sons and granddaughter and how they had
done well in her eyes.
A few days before her death, Dorothy’s helpers rolled her over from one side to the other and
she said “wee” like a kid having fun. She was a gentle, yet very strong woman. She is greatly
missed by her family and those who had the privilege of attending to her at the Meadowbrook
Manor nursing home.

Dorothy and Roy will be interred at North East Cemetery.
