James H. Rathmell

James H. Rathmell Jr., 89, of South Ripley, NY passed away Monday, August 1, 2022, at home surrounded by his family.

He was born on July 12, 1933, to the late James and Irma (Speelberg) Rathmell Sr.

He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, son Lonnie (Brenda Rathmell), and sisters, Betty Bomboy and Evanna Richey.

James is survived by his daughters, Gayle (Edward) Mowers and Debbie Davis (Allen Matters), and grandchildren, Jeremiah (Diane) Mowers, Megan Luke and Janel Luke.  He enjoyed his 5 great grandchildren-Aiyana, Aria, Nylee, Mycaiah, and Zoe.

A resident of South Ripley most of his life, he loved his farm, doing carpentry work, and was an active member of the South Ripley Firehall where he proudly served as Fire Chief.  He also proudly served his country during the Korean War with the United States Army.

He was loved by so many friends and neighbors.  A special thank you to Diane Lewis and Kim Kleckner for being loving caregivers the last few years and making his wishes his reality.

Due to Covid restrictions, masks are required, and Friends may call at the W. Tad Bowers Funeral Home, 92 S. Lake St., North East, PA on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, from 5 PM until the time of funeral services there at 7 PM conducted by Worship Leader, Darlene Meeder.  Private burial services will be conducted for his family.
