Joan Page Obituary

Catherine Joan (McChesney) Page, 92, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away peacefully on June 17, 2021, in her home surrounded by family.

Joan was born in Wampum, PA on July 2, 1928 to Anna and Chester McChesney. She graduated from Wampum High School in 1946 and received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1950. After graduation, she taught business subjects at the North East High School for 30 years.

Joan was very active in many arenas. She sang with the North East Chorale Club for 40 years, was a National Republican Committee woman, a past-president of the North East Woman’s Club, an avid bridge player, on the board of the North East Food Pantry, and many other activities. She was always very active in church activities at St. Peter's Lutheran Church and Holy Cross Episcopal Church, both of North East.

She wintered with her husband, Harold in Phoenix, AZ during the 1990's and then in Port Charlotte, Florida in the early 2000's-eventually moving there permanently.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Janet (Jonathan) Spooner of Port Charlotte, FL; son, Thomas (Lori) Page of Saginaw, MI; three grandchildren, David Spooner of Marietta, OH, Dr. Chelsea (Adam) Houthoofd of Midland, MI, and Jessica (Matthew) McRae of Saginaw, MI; a great-granddaughter, Kalyn Spooner of Cape Coral, FL; 3 great-grandsons, Tommy and Benjamin Houthoofd of Midland, MI, and Connor McRae of Saginaw MI. Joan is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Harold W. Page, her parents and her 5 brothers-Robert

McChesney, Francis McChesney, James McChesney, Calvin McChesney, and Thomas Neal McChesney (her twin).

In accordance to Joan’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at a later date.
