John (Sonny) M. Ferko Jr.

John “Sonny” M. Ferko 88 of North East Pa. took the hand of his Lord and Savior from this earthly home to his heavenly home on January 9th 2022 at his residence.

Son of John M and Mary (Premro) Ferko of Washington Pa.

Born November 27th 1933 in Washington Pa., upon his graduation from North East High School in 1951 John started his very successful career in the transportation industry, as Asst. Sales Manager then Traffic Manager at Keystone Foods CoOp. Jiffy foods as the Traffic Manager then entering into a Partnership as Operations Manager Better Baked Foods. When John left the Partnership he started with before starting his own Private transportation Firm of Frontier Transportation. Finishing up his career as Operations Manager, Lake Erie Trucking/Transportation Services.

John was a boisterous and sometimes forbearing individual with a heart as big as an Erie Summer Sunset. His giving heart showed the care and compassion that he had for everyone especially the Love for his family! Concerned that no one should go hungry he always made sure anyone and everyone that he knew had enough to eat. You could never leave Johns presence without a full stomach. John would give a stranger his coat on a cold day if he knew that they needed it, remaining cold himself. John loved the spring and warm summer months, the blooming of flowers and the beauty of God’s Creation.  During the later years of his life while experiencing numerous medical conditions and operations the caring and sharing that occurred while residing with his daughter Kathie, a deep and profound bond was formed between father and daughter that grew throughout his remaining years.

Preceded in death by his Mother & Father, a son Robert David Ferko, his wonderful wife Sally (Yates) Ferko, brother Joseph Ferko, sister Margaret (Ferko) Green, grandson Dylan Harrison.

Survived by brother Michael Ferko, sister Rose Ferko, daughter Kathie Motherwell (Dave), son Robert Ferko (Kathy) Grandchildren April, Justin, Jarrod, Jamison, Amanda. 13 Great grandchildren and 3 Great, Great grandchildren all of North East Pa.
