Larry Loomis Obituary

LARRY LOOMIS

Wise men say, only fools rush in. But we couldn’t help falling in love with you. It is with deep sadness that we share that our cherished dad, Larry Loomis, went home to be with the Lord on April 17, 2021 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his Dream Team, as he called us.

Dad was raised in Corry, Pennsylvania and graduated in the class of 1973.  He worked as a car salesman for over 40 years, most recently at Mill & Main in North East, PA.

To know our dad was to know his humor and sarcasm. Some of our favorite moments were spent around the dining table throwing jokes back and forth, laughing until we couldn’t any more.  We are grateful he passed that on to us, and we hope to pass it on to our children, as well. Dad was an avid golfer, winning countless tournaments and championships. He was also a music fan. His last days in the hospital were spent listening to tunes with us: The Temptations, The Doors, Phil Collins and, of course, his beloved Elvis.

He is survived by his three beloved daughters who he said were his legacy.  Mandi (Shane) Cresswell and their children, Aubrey and Colt. Jennifer Brown and her children, Gianna and Eli, who called him Papa Larry. Julie White (Travis) and their children Natalie, Max and Masen who called him Grandpa Green (because he lived in a green house, of course). His companion, Susie Riekofsky, who stayed by his side.  He is further survived by two sisters, Peggy Counasse and Jean Halsey and her husband Laverne; and three brothers; Allen Loomis, Jr. and his wife Patricia, Ronald Loomis and his wife Kathy, and Carl Loomis; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. Family was so important to our dad.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Eva (Valletti) Loomis; his grandson, Hart Cresswell; and his brother-in-law, Al Counasse.

We will forever live with so many amazing memories he made with us (dinner at Johnny B’s, dying Easter eggs, watching Christmas movies, and waiting for the Easter Clause to visit), and we are heartbroken to see him go. But, like the river flows, surely to the sea, darling so it goes, some things are meant to be. And we know we’ll see him again. We’ll play a round of golf, drink coffee, talk about scripture and take a ride in your BMW with the top down and the music loud.

Family and friends are invited to call at the North East Alliance Church, 81 E.
