Margaret "Peggy" Jean (Salen) Foster Obituary

Margaret "Peggy" Jean Foster, 92, of North East, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, following a courageous journey with dementia. Peggy was born on February 6, 1934, in Erie, Pennsylvania, to the late Theodore and Opal Salen. She graduated from North East High School in 1952 and went on to attend St. Vincent School of Nursing. A woman of deep faith, Peggy was a devoted member of Park United Methodist Church, where she joyfully shared her beautiful voice as a member of the church choir. Music was one of her greatest passions, and she was a dedicated member of the North East Choral Club for nearly 50 years. She ultimately fulfilled her calling in nursing and retired from Hamot Hospital in 1996 after a rewarding career caring for others.

Peggy and Dave treasured traveling with their close friends, creating countless memories through their adventures together. They enjoyed playing bridge and Peggy loved preparing meals and baked goods for those she loved and hosting family gatherings that created lasting memories. Peggy and Dave spent countless hours cheering from the sidelines, attending school activities, sporting events, and milestones big and small. Their unwavering presence, encouragement, and love made them a constant and cherished part of their grandchildren’s lives. Above all, Peggy's greatest pride and happiness came from her family. Peggy is survived by her children, Pam (Mike) Tann, Ted (Michelle) Garnow, and Dana (Anne) Foster; her grandchildren, Lauren, Ryan (Quinn), Jared, and Kristen Tann; Drew, Brandon, and Jena Foster; Jonathan (Alyssa) Batsel, Rachael (Kyle) Arbutina; her three cherished great-grandchildren; and her sister, Bonnie Alcorn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Foster; her brothers, Louis and Stanley Salen; her sister, Nellie "Eileen" Thomson, and beloved dog, Chewy.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Park United Methodist Church, 30 North Lake Street, North East, PA 16428. Arrangements are entrusted to the W. Tad Bowers Funeral Home, North East, PA.
