Melvin G. Freeman, 79, passed away surrounded by his loving family on January 1, 2024.
He was born February 6, 1944, in Hendersonville, North Carolina. The son of the late William Freeman and Euna Dean Montgomery (Pruitt). He met his wife of 52 years in North East and became a lifelong resident.
He worked many years at Keystone Foods and later retired from Perry Screw Machine Company. In earlier years, he often worked extra hours in the grape vineyards for Maas Farms. He was a hardworking father who always provided for his family.
Melvin was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family. In the summers you could often find him tending his garden. He was very artistic, and he enjoyed drawing sketches. He was a loving father and grandfather who will be sadly missed.
Melvin was preceded in death by his wife Carol Freeman (Buscemi); infant son William M. Freeman, brothers William A. Freeman and Mike Montgomery; sister Ruth Snyder.
He is survived by his children Daniel Freeman (Janell) and Kelly Pearson (Jeremy); grandchildren Haley Freeman, Lexy Freeman, Matthew Pearson and Erik Pearson. He is also survived by his brothers Charles Montgomery and Mitch Montgomery and sisters Marlene Babay and Mabel Ziek.
Friends and family will be received at the W. Tad Bowers Funeral Home, 92 S. Lake St., North East, PA on Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M.
