Paul R. Scarem of Findley Lake, NY went home to be with his Lord Monday, April 24, 2023.

Paul was born in Erie, PA on June 3, 1937. He was a graduate of Clymer Central School, class of 55.  He joined the USMC and served from Feb.1956 until being honorably discharged in Feb. 1959.

Upon returning home he worked for Caflisch Lumber Co. Then moved to Louisville KY and worked at GE. A year later Paul decided to go to Heavy Equipment School in Charlotte NC. And in 1961 he decided to go into business for himself. He was the owner-operator of Paul Scarem Hauling and Excavating up until 1986 when he was elected as Mina Townships highway Superintendent, a position he held until his retirement in 2019 at the age of 79.

Paul married Sharon (Neely) in 1962 and they celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2022

Paul loved to sing Southern Gospel Quartet music. He joined the Good News Quartet from Clymer, NY in 1978 singing bass for 27 years traveling all over the region.

Paul was an avid gardener who enjoyed his flower gardens with their rock walls and garden ponds.

After retirement, he took to woodworking as a hobby, building replicas of some of the equipment he had used over the years.

Paul enjoyed pitching horseshoes and playing pool with friends and family.

Paul loved his family and was a source of strength and comfort to every member. Always willing to help in any way he could.

Paul leaves his wife Sharon, and his adult children. Several nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  He will be missed by family and friends.

You can look for him around God’s throne, He’ll be singing with the angel band.
