RAYETTA JEAN FERKO
Rayetta Jean Ferko, 83, of North East, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021, at her residence.
She was born on October 23, 1937, in Kane, PA, a daughter of the late John Alfred and Anna (Lundburg) Halquist.
She was the “most mild-mannered loving momma anyone could have” and the “best grandma ever.” She enjoyed spending time with family. She also loved children and babies and had to be reminded that, although they are adorable, you still need to give them back to their parents. Rayetta Jean was a homemaker and helped on the fruit farm. She was also an avid crossword puzzle fan and was hard to beat. She was active in Sts. Peter and Paul Church and volunteered for the baking group for many years. Additionally, she organized ice cream socials in Frostproof, FL, where she wintered for 20 years.
Rayetta Jean is survived by her husband of 64 years, Mike Ferko; two sons, Dan Ferko and Scott Ferko (Mary Jo); two daughters, Terri Ferko and Barbara Ferko-Cotton (Noel Bilodeau); one brother, Roger Halquist; her grandchildren, Kelli Ferko, Kevin Ferko, Jaclyn Harper (Michael), Renee Ferko, Andrew Ferko; and her great-grandchild, Ava Harper. She was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters, her son-in-law, Rick Ferko, and her daughter-in-law, Sue Ferko.
Private services will be held at the convenience of her family. Funeral arrangements are under the care of the W. Tad Bowers Funeral Home, 92 S. Lake St. North East, PA. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice. To send condolences, please visit www.bowersfuneralhome.com.
