Roy S. Manley, 82, passed away peacefully in the loving presence of his family and Pastor Dana
Runestad
in Livonia, Michigan on September 7ᵗʰ. He is dearly missed!
Roy was born in North East, PA where he spent time in an orphanage recovering from club foot
surgery. He and his mother lived the farming life as hired hands harvesting and filling any job
around. He was often seen driving his Whizzer motorcycle. On the Bisbee farm, Ruth Snyder’s
guidance opened an opportunity to attend Erie Business College where he completed a
business degree.
The railroad was his passion starting at New York Central which later became Penn Central and
Conrail. The work took him and his family to Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan. He worked
his way through the ranks to become second level management.
The love of his life, Dorothy Page of North East, joined him in marriage in 1956. He persevered
through several difficult illnesses in hopes of going home to his beloved wife.
Roy had a passion for gardening, lawn care, golf, his family, and was a master of organization.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Page) Manley; sons Doug and Gordon Manley; grandchildren Laurel
Rose Manley and William Sturdevant. Roy was preceded in death by his mother Anna (Mundaniohl) Finn.
