Shirley Ann (Lanham) Casciere, age 87, of North East, PA, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Nightingale Nursing and Rehab Center in Erie, PA.
Shirley was born on March 11, 1937, to the late Lowery Clayton Lanham, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth (Dunham) Lanham in Morgantown, West Virginia.
Shirley was a graduate of Saltsburg High School in 1955. She married Franklin (Frank) Eugene Casciere on June 23, 1956, in Tunnelton, PA. The couple went on to have two sons, Larry Eugene Casciere and Bryan McKay Casciere. They moved to North East, PA in 1966. Shirley was an active member of the Park United Methodist Church and United Women in Faith (UWF), 30 North Lake Street, North East, PA. She held several jobs, including office manager at Jiffy Foods from 1970-1975 and then plant manager at BCM Foods until they closed. Shirley was Worthy Matron of the Order of the Easter Star (O.E.S.) Shiloh Chapter #153 in 1981 and was also Queen of the Daughters of the Nile, Selket Temple #140, in Erie, PA in 1995. She volunteered at the Shriner’s Hospital for Children in Erie, PA. Her hobbies included cooking and baking, reading, crocheting, and doing puzzles. She especially enjoyed participating in and developing life-long friendships with the members of two bridge clubs.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law, two nieces, and two nephews. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Frank of North East, PA; her two sisters, Gloria Kay (Robert) Whitesel of Jeannette, PA and Charlene Buell of Saltsburg, PA; two sons, Larry (Peggy) Casciere of Moore, South Carolina, and Bryan (Helen) Casciere of Erie, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Audrey (Gareth) Osborne, Corey (Tracy) Casciere, Marcia (Nick) Warden, Justin Casciere, and Kevin Casciere; and seven great-grandchildren, Colton and Ava Casciere, Liam and Clara Warden, Kelly Casciere, Clayton and Evelynn Osborne; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
